We are very happy to finally find some time and announce the birth of our second child 'Tarak' baby boy born on Aug 1st through a successful and pleasant c-section.
YES!! you heard it right, it was a realisation to us too as a couple that ending up with a c-section can also be peaceful.
My first one (c-section) with our daughter was an emergency, uncontrolled and disturbing c-section after more than a full 24hrs of labour. Hence this time opted and tried my best for a vbac. I felt the real surges that were clearly different to the practise ones on the night before when I went to bed. But, because I was working even till that evening, I had a slight doubt that it could be the physical stress on body showing up before bed. As the surges ramped up and were steady, I called the hospital at midnight and they asked me to come in. We went there and within few minutes got admitted.
Then its the journey of passing surges and waiting for that moment. I think its just my physiology that I had very strong surges (peaked up monitor readings that my husband told me later) coming in everytime and in very short intervals that I felt there was no time to revive myself yet progressing at a very slow pace. The breathing techniques we learnt were very handy and main reason for me to sustain for that long. Although, the obst. was pushing on another c-sec right from 8am, we were able to reject it firmly and be able to strongly focus on what is important then and reassure ourselves that we can do it and be at our own calm. There was a point nearly at noon when I was unable to bear any further and asked for a c-sec myself but my husband (whom I thought was not concentrating in the sessions, but he did) stood there every sec which felt so long otherwise and assuring me to hold on and this too shall pass. With all the knowledge we gained from the sessions, we tried all possible options to try having a natural birth that including epidural and breaking waters. With a 5cm dialation by sunset (I loved watching out the window than the clock or the monitor), my bub had meconium in the waters and more and more as they examined (one scenario where examinations helped may be) - this is it and we decided to go for a c-sec and did not want to compromise the health or stress the baby anymore with the waters broken. At 8.09pm I was operated on and Tarak was born.
I could now happily say that I had much peaceful birthing this time with mountains of information gained from Corinne's sessions. From a point where my husband (and even myself) not being aware of what's happening, to a point where everything was confidently steered by us - cannot thank Corinne enough. All the techniques learnt (that we chose to use much, especially keeping calm and relaxed), music, partner being there for me, support from midwives, parents etc. everything was just right.
It all then made sense in my case that a natural birthing is not the only success but a peaceful and welcoming birthing is☺️. I AM proud of my partner and myself - we did it too!!
